Pelvic Floor and Pilates

This 90-minute workshop is offered to both Pilates instructors and clients of all genders. It will provide education on the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor, and the importance of the pelvic floor muscles in relation to the whole body. Importantly, you will learn how to discover and activate your pelvic floor muscles with guidance and hands-on assistance from the instructor and board-certified pelvic health physical therapist, Kat Nasseri. Then, you’ll learn how to apply correct and effective pelvic floor muscle activation to your Pilates practice. This workshop is designed to increase knowledge of these vital muscles, identify symptoms of dysfunction, and give tools to all attendees to improve their core stability and strength. This workshop is also designed as the first in a series for Pilates instructors who are interested in better addressing pelvic floor muscle function for their clients.

Kat Nasseri (she/her) graduated from the University of Louisville with bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Science and Spanish. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky, and later graduated from the Women’s Health Reisdency program at Baylor in Dallas, Texas. She is board- certified pelvic and abdominal health by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists.
